Inviting a musician at kindergarten - Traditional musical instruments of Epirus (northwestern Greece)

Inviting a musician at kindergarten

The invitation of a musician to a kindergarten (as in general the invitation of any specialist who is called to present aspects of his activity) can be a very important experience for children as well as a direct source of knowledge, discovery and interaction.

Following are snapshots from the invitation of a traditional music musician to a kindergarten where I taught. The activity was part of the project "Musicians and music of Epirus". It was a broad topic that had developed over a period of about two months and included, among other things, the acquaintance of children with traditional musical instruments, with dances, songs, manners and customs, etc.
About topic

The children had the opportunity to see up close the main musical instruments of the traditional music of Epirus, to hear their sound through live musical examples, to get to know the musical instruments parts, to touch them, to "play" with them , as well as participate in songs and dances.

I thank Mr. Vassilis Dosis (musician and primary school teacher) who accepted the invitation and made a very nice presentation to the children.
