Percussion musical instruments: Making a Tambourin Stick in Kindergarten

Tambourine Stick

Considering the importance of percussion instruments in preschool educational activities, but also how young children can use them in their play and in their experimentation with sound production (eg varying the volume, approaching rhythmic patterns etc.), making simple percussion instruments in kindergarten can be a very interesting activity for children. Through the construction process, children discover, among other things, the properties of materials in terms of sound (eg how certain materials sound with their direct percussion), while they develop their ingenuity in converting simple materials into "musical instruments" ( eg sticks, glass bottle, jar etc).

Tambourine Stick construction is an activity that can be implemented both in kindergarten and at home with the help of an adult, while the child can see up close and experience all the construction steps, contributing to it.

The materials needed are a Y-shaped branch, fishing line (or thin wire or twine) and some bottle caps. It is recommended that the adult pierce the bottle caps by drilling a hole in the center with a nail.
